The influence of environmental management practices on sustainable hospitality operations
Environment is a key issue that all organization and stakeholders of different industries are talking about simply because of its degradation. Hospitality industry has not been left behind as it is a huge player in the creation of adverse environmental impacts. The hospitality industry is adopting environmental management practices as measures of reducing impact on the Environment. However, in order for the hospitality establishments to be truly sustainable, it must not only be environmentally conscious, but it must also demonstrate a commitment to the local community. For hospitality sustainable operations, the term triple line of sustainability is used to refer to a business as having an equal balance in addressing the environment, the economy and society. Sustainability driven hospitality establishments programs and initiatives can provide a significant competitive advantage to the hospitality industry and make a high contribution towards the implementation of global sustainable development goals. This paper aims to address the key environmental management practices towards building sustainable hospitality operations. In addition, this paper contributes to the current scholarly debate about the importance of sustainability-operations within organizational settings.
